The Blues Scale
The blues scale is used extensively in modern rock, blues
and country guitar playing. It is very closely related to the
pentatonic minor scales discused earlier.
Here is what it looks like. Basically the same scale with one
extra note. This is an a minor blues scale. I use the pentatonic
and blues scale interchangebly in my soloing.
E|-5-|---|---|-8-|---|
B|-5-|---|-7-|-8-|---|
G|-5-|---|-7-|---|---|
D|-5-|---|-7-|---|---|
A|-5-|-6-|-7-|---|---|
E|-5-|---|---|-8-|---|
As with the pentatonic scales they can be move
around to different position to play in different
keys. Here is a g minor blues scale.
E|-3-|---|---|-6-|---|
B|-3-|---|-5-|-6-|---|
G|-3-|---|-5-|---|---|
D|-3-|---|-5-|---|---|
A|-3-|-4-|-5-|---|---|

The blues scale is just as important as the pentatonic scale so
